Marcus Gronholm s’envole lors de cette deuxième étape disputée dans des conditions estivales. Mikko Hirvonen suit le rythme de son leader, tout juste, et termine la journée avec un passif de 20"4. C’est peu et beaucoup à la fois, et le jeune Finlandais doit se résoudre à assurer la deuxième place finale. Même topo pour Sébastien Loeb, qui n’a pas réussi à combler l’écart sur les pilotes finlandais.
